The Cuna's (Panama)

Panama Jungle 1967

Native Cuna women.

This is our one and only picture of the Acuna's.  The Acuna's were terrified of having their picture taken.  Larry captured this picture by pretending that the camera had slipped from his hand and he caught it (and took this picture).  If you will look closely you can see the arm bindings and gold rings in these women's noses.  The arm bindings are applied at a very young age and never removed.

Larry was never able to establish a successful work with the Acuna's because they were mortal enemies of the Choco's, with whom Larry was also working at the time.
